SPECIAL PROCESS SERVERS
For
ST. JOHNS COUNTY
, FLORIDA
Until recently, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has served the majority of civil process. A
person not employed by the Sheriff could only be appointed to serve civil process through the
Court, by the Court issuing a "Motion and Order to appoint Elisor".  With the goal of reducing
the number of court issued Motion and Order, the St. John's County Sheriff's Office has
recently trained and appointed Special Process Servers wh
o may now serve civil process in St.
Johns County, without having to first obtain an Motion and Order. Special process server
appointment is covered under Florida Statute 48.021.
CIA's SPECIAL PROCESS SERVERS
In order to meet the needs of our clients, many of which include attorneys and law firms, we have completed training and
have been appointed by the Sheriff as Special Process Servers in St. Johns County. This means that we have
county-wide jurisdiction to serve
non-enforceable civil process papers for our clients.

In addition to being Special Process Servers, we are also licensed private investigators. This allows "one stop service" for
many of our clients who cannot locate a valid address on the person whom they need to have served.
For an additional fee, we will be happy to conduct skip-trace services for our clients.  Remember that because we are
state licensed private investigators, we subscribe to database services that require a private investigation license in
order to gain access to the information.

FEES FOR PROCESS SERVICE
We have several different levels of process service, upon which our fees are based.

STANDARD SERVICE:  $40 per writ (this is now the same price charged statewide by sheriff's office, per
statute)
. The person being served may or may not be aware that they are to be served, but the client has provided us
with a valid current address, work address if applicable, physical description of the person being served, and their
vehicle description if applicable. We will make 3 good faith attempts on different days at different times, in an effort to
serve the person.
We serve civil process in all of St. Johns County, including Augustine, St. Augustine Beach. Ponte
Vedra, St. Johns, Hastings.

'RUSH' or SAME DAY SERVICE -  If a client requests that we attempt to serve papers within one day, and we agree to
attempt service that same day, the charge will be
$75 per writ for rush requests.

DIFFICULT SERVICE or WHEN THE PERSON TO BE SERVED IS PURPOSELY EVADING SERVICE - Please call us to
discuss specifics of your case and costs. Hourly rates may apply when we have to "stake out' someone. We may also
recommend that you run a "skip trace" for an additional fee if you do not know the person's whereabouts. Photographs of
the person being served are very helpful in these sort of cases.

OUT OF COUNTY SERVICE - We are appointed to serve in St. Johns County, with the exception of serving a civil
witness subpoena which in Florida may be served by any person over 18, who is not a party to the suit (in other words,
we do not need special appointment for serving a civil witness subpoena in other counties).  Please call for pricing to
serve a civil witness subpoena outside of St. Johns County.

PAYMENT TERMS FOR PROCESS SERVICE  - PAYMENT IS REQUIRED IN THE FORM OF A CHECK WHEN WE
RECEIVE THE
WRIT FROM  A CLIENT, prior to us attempting service. This is required per Florida Statute 48.20.
IF A CLIENT DOES NOT WISH TO PAY BY CHECK, FOR THEIR CONVENIENCE WE CAN SEND AN ELECTRONIC
INVOICE, WHICH CAN BE PAID ONLINE, PRIOR TO US SERVING THE PAPERS. Please include the original writ, a copy
of the writ for the person being served, along with a copy of the complaint for the person being served, if applicable.
Please indicate if you wish to have us send the return of service to your office or
file at the clerk's office.
