Civil Investigation Agency, Inc. is a fully licensed private investigation agency located in northeast Florida, with
    customers nationwide. Services include background checks, skip tracing, locating deadbeat parents, and all aspects
    of surveillance. C.I.A. was founded in 1981 by C.J. Sunderman, Jr. who is the owner, president and director of
    investigations. Mr. Sunderman has an extensive background in law enforcement and crime prevention.  He first
    began his investigative career while serving for 6 years in the U.S. Navy.  After receiving an honorable discharge in
    1970 he served on the municipal police departments in Norfolk, Virginia and in Sarasota, Florida.

    In 1974 Mr. Sunderman was assigned to the Crime Prevention Unit in Sarasota to develop and maintain crime
    prevention programs in the area.  He also handled media relations and public speaking engagements.  From 1978 to
    1980 Mr. Sunderman was a part-time instructor at the National Crime Prevention Institute in Louisville, Kentucky
    where he taught various courses on security and crime prevention.  During the course of his law enforcement career,
    he developed a number of crime prevention programs, and developed and copyrighted a program on resort security
    and has had a number of articles published on the topics of security and crime prevention.

    Mr. Sunderman holds a B.A. degree from the University of South Florida in law enforcement, as well as an A.A. an
    A.S. in criminal justice from Manatee Community College.  In 1981 he left the police department and founded Civil
    Investigation Agency, Inc. Mr. Sunderman personally oversees the operations of C.I.A. on a daily basis, and is also a
    licensed alarm contractor.  His wife, Joanna, is a graduate of Ohio University and has a degree in social science, as  
    well as a certificate in paralegal studies from the University of Colorado. She is also a licensed private investigator
    and conducts background checks and online research. Joanna also handles the design and upkeep of the website.  
    Mr. Sunderman is an avid amateur radio operator; Mrs. Sunderman is a spay/neuter advocate for pets and feral cats.
    The couple enjoy metal detecting on the beach, and the company of their indoor feline friends.
